Connecting a sewer hookup requires a separate hose from your water hookup, and will be the second one you connect when settling in. You’ll first attach the sewer hose to the site’s hookup.
The utilities at site must be compatible with the requirements of the home as ordered, and vice versa. Failing to understand the process can not only be disappointing, but can also be expensive to rectify after the fact. The following are some guidelines to follow that could prevent some common mistakes and make the process towards occupancy pleasant—as it should be.
It is best that you do not authorize your new manufactured home to be built before accumulating the information, time frame, and costs of the utility requirements. Employ a licensed general contractor that has local experience in contracting and installing all of the functions required to prepare and connect the manufactured home to the utility services.
The total bid from your general contractor should include not only the normal pricing for the utility installations, but should include the anticipated charges for overruns, if required. A general contractor would be responsible for all of the work performed, whether he completed the work or employed sub-contractors for portions of the work. Sometimes the customer will assume the position as the general contractor. We do not necessarily recommend that a purchaser act as general contractor because of the obvious problems associated with coordination of subcontractors and the potential liabilities involved.
Water and Sewer The water may be from a public water system or a well and the sewer can be from a public sewer system or a septic system. The cost for the well and septic system will vary from site to site. Sometimes it is impossible to get an accurate estimate due to unforeseen circumstances. You should discuss with your retailer how cost overruns such as this will be handled in advance.
High-pressure injection atomizes fuel into finer particles which burn more completely. It results in improved fuel economy and a lower cost of operation. The electronic control unit ECU provides optimum fuel control and accuracy. ECU monitors and controls the engine. It continuously monitors engine conditions and adjusts the fuel delivery accordingly to ensure optimum performance and emissions.
The engine comes with an after-treatment system.

Although the City does not have a water treatment facility, it does have a distribution network of approximately 97 miles of water line piping, fire hydrants, 6, water meters and 3 water storage tanks. The Utility Department follows strict federal and state guidelines for monitoring and testing water to assure that the water meets their specifications. The Utility Department spends about 40 percent of its time annually on repairing and updating the water distribution system.
At the same time the department does flow tests on the fire hydrants to collect flow data on the system to assure that the system is meeting specifications. During this time, which is usually in the spring or fall, property owners may experience some discoloration in their water. The discoloration is from a mineral called Manganese that naturally occurs in rocks and soil.
Manganese settles in the distribution piping and when fire hydrants are opened the sudden flow of water will stir it up. There is no cause for alarm when this happens. You will need to run water in your bath tub and sinks for about fifteen minutes, normally this will clear the problem. If the water does not clear up call the Utilities Department and they will send someone out to try to remedy the problem. Water Connections Price information for fees and permits for new construction can be obtained from the Building Inspections Office at City Hall.

There may be a special combination of factors that make this system not viable in other areas but I will gladly sing the praises of it. When we bought our house and land the situation was so much what we wanted that even though I was unfamilliar with sewage lagoons that I was willing to deal with it if it should prove problematical. The real problem for any sewage situation around here is that the clay just does not percolate around here.
Park Model Campers. Park model campers are one of the types of towable campers. But, although they are towable, they are not a type of camper that is meant to be towed frequently from campground to campground like the other types of towable campers are.
Share Tweet There unfortunately is not a perfect procedure for connecting your utility RV hookups. Awareness Be sure to get a spot in a campground that has the appropriate RV hookups for your type of rig and has enough room to accommodate the size. The coveted pull through sites are always a plus! Find the site hookups and see if you can keep the sewer connection as close to the RV as possible.
Have a look around the site before pulling in to get a good feeling for how you want to be positioned. You RV should have the door side pointing toward the available space where you can have tables, chairs, and possibly a campfire. Watch out for overhead issues like tree limbs. Watch that satellite dish dome if you have one. Back, or Drive In After getting a good feel for the site you can now back in or drive in as you have decided.

However, land purchases can also spring any number of unpleasant, and often costly, surprises on the inexperienced. Developers buying large tracts of land to subdivide often budget more for development costs and fees than for purchasing the land itself. In addition to purchase price of the land, make sure you budget for:

How much does it usually cost to get a new electrical hookup? We will probably be living in a motorhome for a few months this Summer while our new house is being built and I’m trying to figure out how much it will cost to have the power lines run out and a temporary pole put in immediately. I want to pay cash for the land, motorhome and power hook up but there is still a big question mark hanging over the electrical issue.
I’m also hoping to get the septic tank in quickly so that I can hook the RV into that too, but with heavy equipment moving around I might have to wait for the foundation, backfill and grading to be finished first. I figure that the motorhome won’t depreciate much in the space of 4 months with zero milage being put on it and I can sell it for most of what I paid once the house is done.
Electrical hookup cost varies widely.
5-Way connectors are available allowing the basic hookup of the three lighting functions (running, turn, and brake) and besides the ground, one pin is available to provide support for another function.
Public Works has consolidated the permit process to cover multiple connection onto a single permit application, however each type of connection has separate requirements. Please contact the Planning office to verify if you need a Zoning Permit for your project. The appropriate utility hookup fees need to be paid before work begins or a permit to connect is issued.
A site plan containing all of the specifications of the utility to be hooked up needs to be submitted to Public Works. After the fees are paid, the site plan accepted, and any special conditions or requirements for the hookup have been addressed, then work can begin for the utility hook-up. Before the hook-up is complete, the Borough Public Works Department needs to inspect all lines and fittings that have been installed.
Inspections can be scheduled by calling or Once the inspection is complete the Finance Department will begin the billing for the connected utilities. All work must be inspected before covering or back-filling of a trench and an inspector must be notified 24 hours in advance. Notice shall be given when work is ready for inspection. All water and sewer connections must comply with Borough Codes and all private utility lines must conform to State Plumbing Codes.
Gutter drains, downspouts or storm water collection systems are prohibited from being connected to the sewer system. If work requires activities in a public right-of-way you will need to obtain a Borough Work in Public Places Permit.
